Growing up, my Mum taught me a lot I now know about cooking. She’d have this amazing cook book which she’d actually gotten when she first started secondary school in the late 1960s. One of the recipes I used to love making was the apple scones! They are for sure the recipe which would remind me of my Mum as they’re the favourite thing she used to (and still does) bake for us.
Mum’s Apple scones
The apple scones make a perfect snack with a cup of tea on a cold autumn afternoon. Now the evenings are drawing in sooner, it’s nice to cosy up with something delicious, and the apple and cinnamon of the scones make them the perfect Autumn treat.
They would also go well in packed lunch boxes, or served as part of an afternoon tea. For an autumn themed afternoon tea, how about serving them alongside my delicious pumpkin spice muffins?! There are so many possibilities for these delicious treats.
