2016 Travel Plans – My Guide to Liverpool

2016 Travel Plans - My Guide to Liverpool 1

2016 is almost upon us, and I’ve started to think about travel plans for next year. 2015 brought two moves, and I’m hoping this next year won’t result in any! So instead I’d like to travel more, and for one, I’d love to visit one of my favourite cities in the UK again – Liverpool.

When I visit I’ll make sure to tick of a few things from my Liverpool wishlist – I thought I’d share some of these with you in case you are looking to pay this beautiful city a visit too!

The Tate Liverpool

The last time I was in the city it was just for one day and it was after my friend’s wedding. We made sure to pay a visit to Tate Liverpool as the Andy Warhol exhibit was on – it was wonderful and allowed Ed to see the work of one of his inspirations in real life! As a capital of culture, Liverpool is packed full of arts and entertainment, and I will make sure to pay at least one of 2016’s exhibits a visit.

Liverpool Biennial 2016

Liverpool Biennial is a festival of art throughout the city. Being someone who lives in Brighton, it would be interesting for me to see how other cities fare with regards to cultural festivals, since here we have the Brighton Festival and Brighton Festival Fringe. The events for the Biennial haven’t been announced yet, but I’m sure they will be interesting for those who love art.

Beatles Story and Magical Mystery Tour Bus

Of course, Liverpool is famous for the one and only Beatles. I’ve already been on the Magical Mystery Tour before, but it has been a few years, and I think that it would be well combined with a visit to Beatles Story.

Veggie and Vegan Friendly Restaurants in Liverpool

There’s lots to eat in Liverpool, and vegetarians and vegans need not worry about not being catered for in the city. There are places I’ve been to before, and of course lots of places I’ve just found out about! For delicious Mexican food, check out Lucha Libre – make sure that you pop downstairs to Maya too, for a few cocktails! I’d also like to visit Mowgli,Next to Nowhere, Rockwood, The Egg Cafe, and The Garden – all veggie and vegan friendly. Oh, and if you’re just looking for a few bevvies, make sure you visit The Shipping Forecast, Salt Dog Slims, and Santa Chupitos – 3 of my favourite drinking spots!

Need a place to stay in Liverpool?

Of course, any visit to Liverpool worth its weight will need at least one overnight stay – it’s important to make sure that you save your money for everything on your itinerary, so make sure you do your research. I recommend hunting down a decent AirBnB, or a Liverpool Travelodge so that the place you’re staying in isn’t just great value for money, but great quality, too!

Do you have any additional tips for a 2016 trip to Liverpool? Let me know your recommendations in the comments and I’ll make sure to add any of the ones which tickle my fancy to my itinerary!
