I recently attended the launch of Shine Hair and Beauty salon’s shampoo bars. The evening was packed full of hair tips for trend-worthy Christmas party hair styles, and to celebrate the launch of the new Shine Bar.
Now, I’m not one to make too much of a fuss about my hair. I get it cut once or twice a year maybe? Yeah, I’m crap. However, I’m always up for someone making my hair look stunning for Christmas parties as I’m AWFUL at blow drying my own hair. So it was awesome to know that there’d be a hairdresser on hand at the event to showcase what hairstyles are ‘on trend’ for 2016.
Steve (the hairdressing guru) showed us a number of effective and stylish styles, some of which were inspired by celebrity hair, such as this beautiful rope braid:
The wet look is also in this year, so Steve showed us how to create this look without making your hair look like a greasy mess. Think sleek styles worn by the Olsen twins and Ashley Graham, rather than an oily look.
The salon uses Aveda products, which are cruelty free and a large portion of these are also vegan, which is great to know as a lot of vegans, vegetarians and those who choose to use cruelty free products (disclaimer: Aveda is a cruelty free brand, but are owned by Estee Lauder. it’s your personal preference to decide whether to support companies with non-cruelty free parent companies or not).
So if you’re looking for a cruelty free and vegan friendly hairdresser in Brighton, why not give Shine a try?!
On the topic of products, the evening also saw the launch of a new product, created by Jonathan, the owner of the salon. The Shine Bar is a cruelty free solid shampoo designed to be portable, reduce waste, but be just as effective at cleaning hair as well as other premium hair products. Not only is it designed by a local, but it’s also created locally in Lewes, so if you’re Brighton or Sussex based and wish to support local businesses, this is for you! My partner has already started to use it, as it’s perfect for short hair, as well as being great to bung in your toiletry bag while travelling.
