Self Care Ideas – Treat Yourself to a Subscription

self care subscriptions guide

If you’ve read my blog so far this year, you’ll know that my aim for 2017 is to invest more in self care. I actually wrote a post explaining a little more about this, which you can read here: ‘What is Self Care and Why is it my 2017 Focus?‘. In it, I explored some of the ways in which you can invest in self care, one of which was to sign up to a monthly subscription. So I thought I’d let you know about some of the subscriptions I’d personally recommend, if you’re into similar things to me.

Self Care Subscriptions

Tea Tourist

If you’d not guessed already, I have a love for a good cuppa. Whether it’s a traditional ‘builders’ tea (soy milk and no sugar for me please), green tea, Earl Grey, or something a little more interesting, there’s nothing better for me than curling up with a cuppa, my dog and something good to watch. Sometimes, though, I don’t like spending £5 on a box of new tea that I might not like, and would have to pass onto someone else… that’s where Tea Tourist comes in.

Tea Tourist delivers a selection of taster sized portions of artisan loose leaf tea straight to your door (in letterbox sized boxes), each month. It’s great value for money because each sample will last at least 3-4 cups (more if you re-steep) and I find it’s a great way to find new tea brands and of course, try something new.

If you’d like to give them a go, make sure to use my special Tea Tourist discount code, which will give you 30% off the regular subscription price of £14.95 (including delivery) for your first box, when you subscribe! My code is: TEACAKEMAKE30

By the way, if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see my Tea Tourist unboxings, so make sure to keep an eye on that around the 20th of each month!

Beer 52

I don’t actually drink very much, if at all, but if you do and you love beer, then Beer 52 is perfect for you! It’s a monthly beer subscription where you’re sent 8 beers (usually from a specific area of the UK), a snack and magazine each month. It’s great value and I can offer you a great deal, too! If you’d like £12 off your first month, just click this link*! It’s simple! If you want to know more, make sure to read my partner’s Beer52 review.

(As Beer52 contains alcohol, please make sure that you are of legal drinking age if you choose to subscribe to this product, and that you drink sensibly)

The S Box

If you’re like me and love to craft, then The S-box, by The Stitchery in Lewes is right up your street! Each month you’ll receive a themed box of craft materials with which you can create to your heart’s content. February’s box is called ‘Spring Song’ (pictured above) and it reminds me a lot of the scrapbooking materials I’d used to get in subscription boxes back in the day – lots of birds and pastel colours! Each box is £14.95 plus postage and the kits are very sewing based, usually containing fabric, thread, and embellishments.

Vegan Town’s Vegan Treat Box

If you’re vegan, eat dairy free, or just like to try new things, I recommend that you give Vegan Town’s Vegan Treat box* a go! You can either subscribe for monthly vegan chocolate and treats, or buy a one off box every now and then.

Subscribe to Vegan Town’s Vegan Treat box*, or you can buy a one off Vegan Treat Box* to give it a try or treat a friend!

  1. These are some great subscriptions, the tea one looks right up my street, what a great idea. I think Simon would appreciate the beer one! I’m kinda looking forward to coming back from our travels and setting up some regular subscriptions and settling down.
