The great thing about having a Silhouette Cameo is how it is a lot cheaper in the long run than rival machines such as the Cricut. I thought I’d share some of my tips how to cut costs and just general tips for using your Silhouette Cameo and saving money and time all at once.
My first tip is for cutting mats. Instead of buying a new mat whenever the stick runs out, how about doing what I do?
I buy some spray repositioning glue (found here and here) and spray it all over the part where the mat is sticky. Leave to dry and make sure that you spray in a well-aerated area! I find this method actually works better than a regular sticky mat as I don’t have to wait a number of uses for the ‘perfect’ amount of stickiness.
If you do find that your mat is slightly too sticky just wipe it over with a baby wipe! I always keep a stash of shop’s own value ones by my craft table and if you make sure they are stored with the opening facing down then the wipes at the top don’t end up dry.
