Some of you may know, some may not, but I suffer from a few chronic illnesses. I’ve been having a bit of a rough time with them of late, but rather than complain too much about them I’ve been trying to get on with life. The dreaded Fibromyalgia is trying to force itself upon my life and my crafting is suffering amongst other areas of my life.
Just recently I have started to crochet – I learnt to crochet at Super+Super HQ the other month in fact. However, my fears about the craft have come true and it has triggered some upper right arm pain and tendinitis in my right wrist. I’m sure you can imagine this is incredibly frustrating as with new crafts you just want to get going and enjoy it. Right now I cannot and it is quite upsetting at times.
I’m not entirely sure why I thought I would share this with you, but I thought perhaps some may wonder why I’d not shown much further progress on the crochet front and now you know why. I’m just going to have to give it a rest until my wrist and upper arm ease. Boo hiss.
PS if you suffer from Fibromyalgia too, why not let me know. Either in the comments below or even pop me a Tweet or an email. It’s not nice being in this kind of position health – wise, but at least there are some people who understand.
Sorry to hear about this, sounds very painful and frustrating. Hope you have a nice rest up over Easter and relax 🙂
I've nominated you for the Versatile Blogger award as I really enjoy your blog. Check it out here http://fizzypeaches.blogspot.co.uk 🙂

Thanks lovely! I'm trying to relax as much as I can and get some bits and bobs done – hope you and V have a lovely one in your new flat!
Thank you for the award too! I'll get onto posting mine very soon!
Boo hiss indeed. Keep your chin up deary, have a night off and relax with a good film and a bowl of icecream till you feel able to try again, dont put too much pressure on yourself! xxx
Thanks medear! Had so much going on lately and think I've caught a mild bug that has decided to make me very tired and trigger the Fibro, yuck!
Hey! Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog, I'm glad you did, as I am so pleased I have now discovered your blog 🙂
I suffer from ME/CFS so very much understand how you are feeling, the pain in my wrists has pretty much stopped me entirely from playing the piano, my hands shake far too much to do anything to do with delicate glueing and sticking (no pretty gemstones for me!), and baking now seems to set my back pain off. Nightmare! I'd be a bit happier about it if it was more predictable, as then crafting/making/doing could be planned accordingly! I'm really glad you try to get on with things, I find I just end up sitting and home and complaining… I find it had to get the motivation when the weather is like this!!
I would say 'I hope you feel better soon', but I'm sure you know well that it is not that simple, so as someone once said to me, 'I hope you have more good days than bad days in the near future'. Nice and realistic I guess!
I look forward to reading more of your blog!
Carrie 🙂

Thank you for your lovely comment Carrie and I'm sorry that you are unwell too. It is so frustrating because now that I can manage work (I had to give up a well paid career to start at the bottom of my new field, but my quality of life is much better now) I'm not able to take part in all of the other things I'd like to do… maybe one day we'll both feel well enough to do what we'd like again x
I don't know anything about Fibromyalgia but from what you said, I sure don't want to know what it's like. I'm sorry to hear about that though… Btw thank you for visiting my blog! 🙂
No problem, thank you for visiting mine too!
Just found your blog through a Thrifty Mrs, my Mum has had fibromyalgia for ten years, I think people find it hard to get their heads around just how debilitating it can be. They see her on a good day and think, 'well it's not that bad', and then are very shocked or disbelieving when she says she cant go out and do things.
She got a pair of arthritis gloves for the pain in her hands, not so hot looking but it did help!

Thanks so much for your comment Gwen! I agree, it is incredibly difficult when you look 'fine' but are feeling so unwell – I think that's one of the worst things about it all.
I've not tried arthritis gloves before – I have a splint which I use but might have to look those up and see if they help too! Thank you!
hi, I'm a big scrapbooker and crafter too and I get the whole having to deal with pain while you really want to just enjoy creating…I have CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) which is kind of similar to fibromyalgia — its a nerve condition that causes a fun range of horrible pain in my arms and legs (hands and feet too)…it especially sucks when I'm trying to get my mind off my leg pain by scrapping and then my hands start to hurt. I do my best and my hubby is awesome…plus lately I've been doing better, havent had to use the wheelchair in a while which is awesome! My hopes and prayers to you so that you may have some relief and comfort instead of dumb pain.
