A Vegan Guide to Brighton Foodies Festival

Vegan Brighton Foodies Festival

May is one of my favourite months, mainly because there are two Bank Holidays, not going to lie! And on the first Bank Holiday weekend (29th April – 1st May), Brighton Foodies Festival will be in town! I really enjoy heading to Hove Lawns with my partner and dog, and having a good look around the stalls, watching some top chefs cooking delicious things, and having a look at everything that’s on offer. Of course, there’s lots of non-vegan stuff at Brighton Foodies Festival, but what about the vegan options? Read on to find out…(and to also save money on entrance!)

Vegan Options at Brighton Foodies Festival

Here’s what I will be looking forward to, as a vegan, at the Brighton Foodies Festival this year!

Winner of Vegan Bake-Off Katy Beskow

Award-winning vegan cook, writer and cookery tutor Katy Beskow (who writes Little Miss Meat Free) will be attending the Brighton Foodies Festival. You can see her in the Chefs Theatre at 12pm on Bank Holiday Monday. I’m really looking forward to hearing her talk and seeing her cook some delicious vegan treats!

Matty Bowling of 1874 Vegetarian Restaurants

Matty Bowling from Brighton’s vegetarian and vegan restaurant, 1847 will be at the Chefs Theatre at 4pm on the Sunday, sharing delicious meat free dishes.

Deliciously Ella

Deliciously Ella will be appearing at the Brighton Foodies Festival, so if you’re a fan of her, make sure to pop along! Although she’s not vegan herself, a lot of her recipes are!

Healthy Living Zone

To balance out all of the cakes, cocktails and other goodies, this year sees the Healthy Living Zone come to Foodies Festival. There’s going to be yoga, meditation and nutrition talks, which I’m sure will be incredibly insightful. Brighton Foodies Festival are teaming up with Float Spa, so this will be a really enjoyable experience.

Drinks Theatre & Pimms Tea Pot

Yep, you’ve got it right! If you’re into a good cocktail, then make sure that you take full advantage of the Drinks Theatre and the Pimms Tea Pot! Soaking up the atmosphere of the festival with a glass of Pimms from the Giant Pimm’s Teapot, a rum cocktail from the Rum Galleon Ship, gin and tonic from the Giant Gin Pot or basking in the sun atop the double-decker BarBus… or maybe one of each! Plus learn how to make some delicious drinks at home, and which beer and wine goes best with which dishes in the Drinks Theatre.

Street Food Avenue & Artisan Produce Market

The Street Food Avenue and Artisan Produce Market are two of the most buzzing parts of the Foodies Festival. There will be stalls upon stalls of delicious cooked food from around the world on Street Food Avenue, and you’ll be able to get lots of top quality ingredients from the Artisan Produce Market – make sure to bring lots of reusable bags with you to take all of your foodie goodies home!

Global Fusion Vegan Creole Bakery

Global Fusion vegan creole bakery will be at the Brighton Foodies Festival – I can’t wait to stock up on delicious, plant based, flavour packed loaf cakes! YUM.

Churros Garciachurros garcia brighton foodies

I’m not going to lie, getting freshly cooked churros from the vegan friendly Churros Garcia is one of my absolute favourite things about the Foodies Festival! I actually can’t get enough of them. So if you’re going, look out for me; I’ll be the girl over-indulging in a few portions of churros!

Live Music and Pop Up Bars

One of the best things about the Foodies Festival is the actual festival feel to the event. There will be live music from an array of local bands and musicians, to keep the atmosphere buzzing.

What and Who Else Will be at Foodies Festival?

Sarah Sibley from Bake With Sarah will be baking a Vegan Chocolate & Raspberry Bundt Cake in the Chefs Theatre every day; even though Sarah isn’t vegan herself, it’ll be great to see how she creates this!

There are also lots of other interesting chefs and personalities attending, including Great British Bake Off Winner Candice Brown, Michelin starred Chefs Matt Gillan, Adam Simmonds, Stephen Crane, and Great British Menu Chef Michael Bremner. There’ll also be MasterChef’s Jane Devonshire, Juanita Hennessey, Jack Layer, Billy Wright and Tony Rodd, to name just a few more!

If you have kids, there’s going to be a Childrens Cookery Theatre, and for those who wish to go all out, the Deco Noir VIP experience sounds like the perfect space to enjoy the private bar and have exclusive VIP only masterclasses!
