There’s a new bar in town, and I’m sure it has passed many of you by!
You’ll find this chic, speak-easy inspired establishment above the newly-refurbished Grand Central pub, close to Brighton Station.
When I visited The Nightingale Room, it was hard to believe it was my lunch hour – I felt as though I’d been transported to not only a different century, but also that it was evening. The room feels like it is someone’s living room, as you can see from the photos above, but there are also booths and tables around the room, with a stage and piano at the centre.
Why is there a stage and piano? Well, not only is The Nightingale Room a bar, but it’s also a speak-easy style bar, complete with entertainment! Enjoy comedy, burlesque, music and more while you enjoy drinks and possibly something to eat!
Big Brother’s Pete Bennett also runs a comedy night there called Pete’s Comedy Caper. Annabelle interviewed Pete about his show on her blog, LillyRinglet.
The Grand Central have just recently also launched their new menu which features a great selection of delicious foods (I enjoyed eggs hollandaise there – YUM!). PLUS there’s the gin bar. Yes, you’ve read it right, the gin bar. I’m not into gin at all, but I know a lot of people who absolutely adore it. The bar stocks gin from Brighton Gin, which is a local, independent gin producer. They serve a Brighton rock cocktail, which features Brighton Gin, a big rock of ice, tonic, and some Brighton rock!
I’m planning to return to The Nightingale Room soon with a group of my workmates in tow so we can try some more of their alcoholic drinks and delicious food!
You can find The Nightingale Room upstairs at the Grand Central pub, 29-30 Surrey Street, Brighton, East Sussex. BN1 3PA.
Thanks for the team at the Grand Central and Nightingale Room for inviting me along to meet them and chat!
Oooh, it sounds lovely!!!!x
It's a great venue and not too far from the station at all, so if you're getting a train to Brighton, there's no worry about how long it'll take to get to the station!
I actually went to the Grand Central on Saturday for a Breakfast Club meeting (a new club I've just co-founded 🙂 ). I was blown away by the decor – it looks so bloody cool! Will definitely check out the Nightingale Room next time I'm nearby xxx
Ooh, what's the club about lady? It's a lovely pub, innit?!
